Lord Ashcroft KCMG PC is an international businessman, philanthropist, author and pollster.

 

He has established himself as a best-selling author with his “Heroes” series. His previous books (all published in hardback and paperback by Headline) were Victoria Cross Heroes (first published in 2006), Special Forces Heroes (first published in 2008), George Cross Heroes (first published in 2010) and Heroes of the Skies (first published in 2012).

 

Lord Ashcroft is a lifelong supporter of the Conservative Party and a member of the Privy Council. He is the former Deputy Chairman and former Treasurer of the Conservative Party and is currently the Government’s Special Representative for Veterans’ Transition, working with all departments to ensure military personnel get the support they need when making the transition to civilian life.

 

Lord Ashcroft’s career as an international businessman and entrepreneur spans some 40 years and during this time he has worked in the UK and abroad, particularly the US. He is an active investor in new companies and ideas and, at various points in his business career, he has headed companies employing more than 100,000 people.

 

Lord Ashcroft is a committed philanthropist and has donated tens of millions of pounds to good causes. He supports a number of charities, including those dealing with crime prevention and education. In 2013, he signed up to The Giving Pledge, thereby making a public commitment to donate more than half his wealth to charity. He founded Crimestoppers, the UK’s only independent crime-fighting charity and he is also a Trustee of Imperial War Museums, Vice Patron of the Intelligence Corps Museum and a principal benefactor to the Bomber Command Memorial in London.

 

Lord Ashcroft conducts a great deal of political polling and makes the results publicly available at Lord Ashcroft Polls.  He has established himself as one of the country’s most respected pollsters and, in the run-up to the 2015 General Election, he is conducting a series of weekly political polls. He has also written three books largely based on his polling.
